It's Trustees Week 2024 and we are saying a huge thank you to all our dedicated trustees. Their commitment and expertise drive us to empower young people every day.
Four of our incredible trustees, Benita, Stephen, Negar and Desmond, share what being part of Villiers Park means to them.
Negar Mihanyar
“Villiers Park do vital work to tackle education inequality giving young people the resources, support and empowerment to reach their full potential. Being a trustee has allowed me to learn about the pressing issues first hand and work with an incredible board from across the sector who all bring unique insights and perspectives.
As an architect my job involves problem solving and creative thinking, and my role on the board of trustees is no different. It’s a great privilege to play a small role in championing the charities work and offering strategic oversight and guidance to the leadership team.
Many of the lessons I’ve learnt through this work have fuelled my passion to ensure the architectural profession is as diverse and inclusive as possible. From looking after the Apprenticeship programme at HawkinsBrown to sitting on the RIBA Academic Validation Panel and acting as an External Examiner on undergraduate courses - I hope that we can open the door to talented young people, regardless of their background.”
Dr Desmond Bermingham
"I am deeply grateful to Villiers Park for the opportunities it gave me and I am thrilled to have the chance to give something back. I had the great good fortune to attend a Villiers Park residential course when I was 16 years old. It opened my mind to a whole new world of learning possibilities."
Benita Udegbe
“The Programme and people here had a big impact on me so I’m happy to be able to give something back. This is a great opportunity for me to see things from the other side of the table and, hopefully, represent current Future Leaders’ voices at board level.”
Stephen Norton
“Villiers Park spoke to me as it aligns with my values. I believe we all have the same potential, but some of us just need help and support to achieve it.”
